Tell me more about Free Your Voice

Our voices give us a unique way of communicating. As human beings we developed speech, languages and music to convey our emotions to each other. But if our voices are not heard, we feel left out. Where you ever told as a child to be silent? Or made fun of for singing out of tune? Or often interrupted when you wanted to speak? These negative emotions have an immediate effect on our voice. When we are moved, we choke up and speaking is difficult. And if we don't fully release all that stress, the muscles of the voice box can stay triggered. Releasing that build-up stress through vocal exercises and mental exercises frees your voice again to be used in a healthy way.

On a Video Call
How does it work?

When you book a session we will send you a Zoom link to join at the booked date and time. Before that you get an online questionnaire, so we know a little bit more about your voice problems and your background. During the session Sebastiaan or one of the coaches will work with you through a series of exercises to determine the problem and fix it.

What do I need during the session?

The sessions are on Zoom, so you need a stable internet connection and browser or the Zoom app. Also make sure you are in a space where you can stand up and we can see your full torso if necessary.

How long does a session take?

A first session is always 90 minutes. Normal sessions are 60 minutes.

How many sessions do I need?

Usually one session is enough to give you all the tools to free your voice. If you want to work on several issues or have a session for maintance, just book another one. There's no subscription plan or any mandatory sessions. Just book when you need us.

I am a singer/artist/actor. Can you help me with my voice?

Free Your Voice is all about vocal coaching, not singing lessons. So yes, if there's a specific problem with your voice we love to help you out. If you want to work on vocal techniques or your range, then we highly recommend getting into contact with a authorised Complete Vocal Technique-teacher. You can find them here:

About me

My name is Sebastiaan Smits, living in The Netherlands. I have been a theater director and producer for over 30 years. About 20 years ago I wanted to know what my actors were experiencing when performing, so I took some singing lessons. This triggered my interest in the human voice, which is an amazing instrument. I studied belcanto, EVTS and trained in Complete Vocal Technique, developed by Cathrine Sadolin. At the same time I developed an actors training program called the Acting Chart. During the development my team and I focused on the connection between emotions and the voice. It's this combination of vocal techniques and getting into the right emotional state of mind that makes Free Your Voice truly liberating.
